Legislative Update – Strong Support Helps End 2013 Session on Positive Note
The 2013 Florida Legislative session started out to be a potentially rocky one for municipal electric utilities. However, with strong support from FMEA members through legislative visits, letters and phone calls, we fought the proposed law and ended the session on a positive note.

Using contract companies and/or employees is a common practice when utilities need extra man-power or a more narrow set of skills for a particular project. Some utilities, however, have chosen to contract the majority of their operations. We investigated one such relationship.
Linemen Excel at Competition
Electric utility workers from around the state met earlier this Spring in Downtown Jacksonville to compete in the 13th Annual Florida Lineman Competition. The event showcased the technical and physical skills of utility workers in a crowd-pleasing display of technique and teamwork.
